When someone says they dislike/hate Akane, I often think what they really mean is: “I don’t like the anime interpretation” of Akane. Because manga-Akane and anime-Akane are two very different girls. And that is one thing I’ve noticed about Akane-haters: They tend to be anime-only fans, and only have a passing knowledge of the manga. Not ALWAYS. But usually.

So here is where I clear up some of the major inconsistencies between the two versions we’re shown. It’s important to note, however, that since the anime is BASED off the manga (which is the original source material) only the manga can be considered “canon”. And you’ll quickly see that the anime took quite a few liberties and didn’t always accurately portray what was in the source material. And that’s where a lot of this misinformation and hate comes from.
